In 1967, Dupont scientists noticed something that was more than a typical polymer layer as an alternative to laminate and granite… This hard product, made of acrylic and natural materials called Corian, can be colored, molded, similar to wood and plastic, but extremely durable, non-porous and easier to clean.

Four years later, DuPont's solid surface material Corian realized the largest annual residential construction trade event in America at the Homebuilder International Builder Show in Houston, Tesksas.

In the early years, Corian products were limited edition. In home applications, there were kitchen countertops, bathroom countertops, and washbasins in white tones. It was all white only.…

Dupont has worked hard ever since. It has expanded beyond its monochrome understanding, including more than 100 richly colored hues to texture and vessel diversity.

Beyond this reinforcement color line, Corian has become a variety of applications. Homogeneous, stain-repellent and scratch-resistant, the Corian material is now being used in many areas, from the façade of buildings to furniture and jewelry products.
